Poisons Amendment (Monitored Medicines) Regulations 2022 (Tas)
Please be advised that the Poisons Amendment (Monitored Medicines) Regulations 2022 (Tas) (the Amendment Regulations) commenced on 1 July 2022 and amended the Poisons Regulations 2018 (Tas) (the Regulations) to increase the substances and classes of substances which are prescribed for the purpose of the definition of a monitored medicine.
Prescribed monitored medicines
The Amendment Regulations rescinded and replaced regulation 95B of the Regulations, adding the following drugs that are prescribed as a monitored medicine:
- gabapentin;
- olanzapine;
- pregabalin;
- quetiapine;
- zolpidem;
- zopiclone.
This is in addition to the previously prescribed substances:
- codeine (S4);
- tramadol;
- dextropropoxyphene.
In addition, the Amending Regulations also added substances known as benzodiazepines as a prescribed class of substances for the purpose of the definition of a monitored medicine.
